You Are My Sunshine Part One

In my last post, Welcome To 2012, I outlined two awards I received towards the end of last year.  So this post is about My Sunshine Award.  The Sunshine Award is given to bloggers who other bloggers feel have been inspiring, positive and offer help where needed.  They basically spread a little sunshine as they walk along their blogging pathway.  I have decided to split this post into two parts as it was becoming an epic!

There are three rules for this award and they are:

1: To thank the person(s) that gave the award.

2: To Answer 10 questions.  (These two will be covered in this post)

3: Pass the award on to 10 deserving bloggers.  (This will be covered in Part Two)

I was surprised to get this award, not because I think I don’t fit the criteria, but because I have been rather quite online of late.  Christmas and the two months before are particularly busy for me offline, so I don’t get as much time to write as I would like.  Of course the great part about receiving this award is it clearly proves I do plenty to impress people when I do get online!

I really would like to thank the two people who passed this award to me, Barry Wells and Randy Smith.  They themselves were in receipt of the award, and so they should be.  They would be on my list every day, although I feel that I will try to spread the compliment a little further with my list, so Barry Wells and Randy Smith, be assured I am passing this right back to you as you both deserve it, however there will be ten new names on my list in You Are My Sunshine Part Two.

Here are my answers to the ten questions:

Favourite colour:  This was quite hard as I really like lots of colours.  Blue does feature heavily in my wardrobe, but I think if I had to choose one colour it would be red, which I find so very vibrant and it always gives me a lift.

Favourite animal:  Again it is hard to choose.  I have both a dog and a cat and I really don’t want to upset either of them by choosing the other – so I will choose Pedro, the Alpaca!  He is simply the cutest little fellow and I love him to bits.  He’s not mine but during the summer months I take tourists on Alpaca Treks on the coastal path at Wells-next-the-Sea.  There are six Alpacas in the group but Pedro is my favourite (but don’t tell the others that!).  You can see a video of my boys by clicking this link.

Favourite number:  This one is much easier because my favourite number is 13.  Unlike some I have had lots of luck with this number (it started when I passed my driving test on Friday 13th February, 1981!)

Favourite drink:  Guinness, no question about it.

Facebook or Twitter:  Facebook.  I find Twitter a bit messy and hard to read.  However, that answer might change when Facebook’s Timeline is introduced!  Having seen it on some pages already I find it very hard to understand and navigate to what I want to read.  Why do they have to change things that work well already??

My passion:  Well, this has got to be helping others.  It sounds a bit corny but I really do get so much out of it.  I always volunteer offline, I run a local spiritualist church in my spare time and volunteer in local youth projects.  In May I am raising money for East Anglia Children’s Hospices by running the Holkham Half Marathon.  Online I am always willing to lend a hand if I can (don’t ask me techie things though!!)

Giving or receiving gifts:  Giving.  There’s so much more satisfaction in giving a gift than there is in receiving one, and I have great fun choosing gifts for people.

Favourite day:  Sunday.  Sundays mean church and singing, family time, roast dinners, a film in front of the fire in the winter and a social afternoon outside in the summer (with Guinness!).  Bliss.

Favourite flower:  Carnations, red preferably.

Favourite food:  Oh my goodness!  Now that is very hard as I am great foodie!  I have just launched a new site called Kitchen Blogging, so I will be in my element there.  Anyway, on to the question, although it would be easier to tell you which foods I do not like (artichokes and oysters, and sheep’s brains being top of the list)!  I’ve recently become very keen on Thai food, but is that my favourite?  I certainly absolutely love Sunday roast dinners with apple pie afterwards.  But I guess if I had to choose one food I love the most it would be neck of lamb hotpot at The Three Horseshoes in Warham.  Absolutely delicious.  They don’t serve Guinness though so I have to drink cider there!

So there is part one of this post.  Look out for part two when I will pass this award to 10 deserving bloggers!

  1. Hi Mandy,

You’re so deserving of the Sunshine Award! You’re a positive person who has a wonderful energy about her.

It’s nice to hear your answers to the questions; it’s a chance to get to know you even better, and I look forward to hearing the rest. I would have guessed your favorite color was blue. 🙂

    1. Hi Peggy, thanks for visiting. It’s so nice of you to say such kind things, Peggy. I feel there are a group of us bloggers who are very similar in personality, and include you in that group. It’s nice to be amongst such lovely people.

      Enjoy the journey.

  2. Hi Mandy, sorry for not getting over here sooner but I’m very busy these days and have been finding it hard to fit in any blog visiting.

I agree with Peggy, you are very deserving of the sunshine award. I see you working behind the scene’s helping everyone that needs it. On Facebook and in forums you’re forever there helping people and offering your advice.

Not many see that Mandy, but I have and it sticks in my mind, especially on the MC forum where 9 time from 10 you’re the first to come to someones aid.

Thank you for passing the award back to me, it really does mean a lot to me, thanks.

I look forward to part 2 of the post and see who’s in the frame next 🙂

Take good care and have a great day Sunday, it’s cold enough for the log fire I think…. and a Guinness 😉
