Specific Goals To Attain Your Dreams

Everyone has dreams of one sort or another.  They could be dreams you’ve nurtured in the back of your mind for years while wishing you could actually bring them into your current reality.  They could also just be a picture in your mind of a romantic beach or other getaway you have been saving for and, try as you might, you’ve never been able to save the money you will need to do it.

Your spouse or family might know about your secret dreams and, when you talk about them, they tell you to “Get Real” or “Grow Up” and walk away shaking their heads.  For your information, dreamers make the world a better place and create opportunities for great improvements in several realities all the time.

You can too!  Don’t shed your dreams because nobody can see the potential possibilities or benefits your dream can bring to your life or others.  There are several steps you need to take in order to get your dreams out of your head and on the road to completion.

First, you have to get a good focus on your favorite dream.  You might have several dreams rolling around in your head, but it is a more powerful force if you take them one at a time.

Start defining the steps you need to take to bring your dream into your reality.  Here’s a few to consider:

Do you need a certain amount of money?

  • How much?
  • How much can you save every payday?
  • How much can you earn by working some overtime?
  • Can you get a part-time job on weekends?
  • Can you hold a yard sale to clean out your attic and garage?
  • Can you quit stopping by Starbucks’s on the way to work?

Do you need more training or education?

  • Where can you get what you need?
  • Are there community colleges nearby with evening and weekend classes?
  • If you have Internet access, can you get the training you need with online classes?

How much time can you devote to bringing your dream into your life?

  • Hours before or after work?
  • During lunch?
  • Weekend and holidays?
  • Vacations at home?

Most dreams stall in the dreamer’s mind because what you need to bring it out in the sunshine seem insurmountable.  As an entire project, it might be true, but everything starts with one detail or one small step.  You thought I was going to finish that with “for mankind,” didn’t you?

The truth is that every project, no matter what the subject, begins with a dream and one small step.  Don’t be afraid to take that step.

But, whatever you decide to do, don’t quit dreaming!

  1. You are so right Mandy, dreams can become a reality if you plan for them and stop just dreaming about them. Little did I know that I could make my dreams a reality. The first thing I didn’t do was share it with others. I knew what they would say. Not because I’m not someone who takes action but because that was so out of the box for me. I’ve always been a person who plans, sticks with what is expected of me and never ventures out and tries anything new.

Surprise!!! Yep, I surprised them all when I left the corporate world and made my way here. You can make it a reality with going through the steps you mentioned.

Thanks for sharing this with us. I have a few people I need to send over here to read this one.

    1. Hi Adrienne, thanks for visiting. We can all work towards our goals in little ways every day, then one day we’ll get there, won’t we. Well done for going after your dream!

      Enjoy the journey.

  2. Hi Mandy,

People really should listen to you here as every man made object started with a dream. You name it and then trace it back to its roots and you’ll see that it was someones dream that started its production.

You’re bang on when you say about people walking off shaking their heads. I’ve had this myself with some beer buddies. Little looks to each other with silly grins on their faces, i’ve had them all and you know what……… they’re still in the pubs doing the same as they have year after year and here I am building a business and finding success…… and most important of all, I’m bringing My dream to life and it gives me more pleasure than I could ever convey in a comment.

I hope that people take your advice Mandy and follow the steps you’ve pointed out here.

Dreams can become reality as long as you take action to achieve them.

    Great post Mandy, Back soon

    1. Hi Barry, thanks for visiting. Yes, action is the key to realiing our dreams, isn’t it. Nothing will happen if we sit in our armchair and dream without doing anything. Good for you for going for your goals!

      Enjoy the journey.

  3. Hi Mandy,
Dreams are important. Our goal setting starts with dreams – aspirations to do better, things we want to try. There will be many people along the way who want to dampen our spirits, steal our dreams. We need to forge ahead and keep going. Positive affirations help.

    1. Hi Janice, thanks for visiting. I believe in the power of positive affirmations although I know they do not work for everyone. They help me greatly.

      Enjoy the journey.

  4. Hi Mandy,

If people didn’t dream there would be nothing. Healthy dreams are vital. The important thing is to take your dream and bring it into reality.

    1. Hi Terry, you are so right, healthy dreams are essential. What was it Gandhi said: A man is but the product of his thoughts. What he thinks, he becomes.

      Enjoy the journey.

  5. Hi Mandy

I am sure many of us can empathise with what you have said here; especially the point about others having a laugh at our expense because we choose to follow our dreams.

The most important thing we can do is believe in ourselves and have the desire to make our dreams come true, as you say Mandy a dream is just a wish until you write it down then it becomes a goal and has a chance of becoming a reality.

The next step is to take action and develop our goals towards achieving our dream.

    Loved the post Mandy

    1. Hi Ian, thanks for visiting. I totally agree with you, we must believe in ourselves and take action on our dreams, otherwise they are just dreams.

      Enjoy the journey.

  6. Hi Mandy

Thanks for the comment on my blog…

Great post you have here, this area is so often overlooked by many newbies, they just want more and more traffic tactics. lol.

Seriously the major stumbling blocks I have overcome, usually stemed to one or two things, Time Management, Lack of Planning. Never not enough tactics and info to learn.

One step at a time we will progress….

    30 Mins a day solid work is 3 1/2 Hours a week….

More then most people actually get done in a week due to distractions…

Will be coming to the North Allerton Meet soon, hope to catch you…

    1. Thanks, James, and thanks for visiting. A lot of our learning comes from making mistakes, and hopefully new marketers will learn from them and get back on the right track.

      Enjoy the journey.

  7. If you have a dream it is good! Because you have already taken an important step on the way to success. Now your task is to do all your best to realize a plan into reality and achieve goals in the end. Later or sooner all your attempts will be crowned with success.
