Regular Meets Can Help Your Focus

Anyone who meets regularly, either offline at local or national events or online via skype conference calls or Google hangouts, will be able to tell you how inspiring and motivating these meet ups can be.  The opportunity to chat with other online workers helps us to focus and fine tune our own perspective and direction.

When they were running I used to regularly attend Randy Smith’s Northallerton Marketing Meetups.  Sadly these are no longer available.  Instead I now meet every Tuesday evening on a Google hangout with a small group of bloggers and internet marketers who are all part of Gavin Mountford’s Networking Superstars.  This group rotates every 4-6 weeks so we are constantly able to meet with different people with different ideas and perspectives.  Many of us in the group are not network marketers and not part of an mlm scheme so being in one is not a prerequisite to joining.  I have found the regular contact and opportunity to ask questions in a group of people striving to make an impact in the same arena (online marketing/blogging) is refreshing and motivating.

As Aristotle Onassis once said, ‘it is in our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light’.  Getting involved in regularly chatting with other bloggers can help you to come out of the dark and into the light.  Click this link to see how Networking Superstars‘ regular hangouts can help you.  There is an opportunity to join these hangouts for free, no purchase required!

  1. Hi Mandy,

There is nothing better for bloggers than to join a group. I was in the Mastermind group, but had to shave down a few things the first of this year. I was in too many groups and finding that I needed time to work on my product.

I was blessed to be there to meet so many awesome people! I highly recommend this group, especially to the newbies, who need direction. It’s a great place to be. (Just sent 2 people the link from EN because they need leadership)

    Thanks for spreading the word.

    1. Hi Donna, thanks for visiting. I agree, we do need to join a group online as blogging can be a very solitary pastime. Networking Superstars is a great place to go for contact and inspiration.

      Enjoy the journey.

  2. Hi Mandy,

How true, I always get something out of sharing with other bloggers – its invaluable. I cannot recommend it highly enough

    1. Hi Neil, thanks for visiting. Meeting up online is a great way to share ideas and help each other and I love the hangout system.

      Enjoy the journey.

  3. Hi Mandy

This appears to be great opportunity for the newbies like me to be part of this.
    I will surely try this

    Thanks for sharing this.

  4. Hi Mandy I totally agree with you. Having regular meets does focus you and the Networking Superstars Mastermind/Hangouts are great and help me focus too.

    1. Hi Angus, thanks for visiting. I’m glad the meets help you focus, I have been much more structured in my approach online sinc having accountability to the group. I am launching my membership site on March 1st and will be including hangouts as part of the package as I’ve learned the value of this regular contact through experience. And of course I’ve met some great people too – don’t get to meet the other leaders though as we’re all busy with our own teams. Maybe we should have a leaders hangout!

      Enjoy the journey.

  5. Very true Mandy, meeting with others regularly is a great thing, and how fantastic to be able to do this from home on the internet. It can be a lonely business working online and it’s uplifting, supportive and a great learning curve to meet with others and good practice in communicating with new people for new business starters – and I would highly recommend Networking Superstars with Gavin Mountford 🙂

    1. Hi Jacs, thanks for visiting. I agree that it is a great convenience to be able to meet via the internet from home. Gavin has set up a great system in Networking Superstars and it’s brilliant to meet so many different people all the time.

      Enjoy the journey.

  6. Hi Mandy
It has been a difficult adjustment for me , converting from a busy work life to working from home. I enjoyed being around people – still do. So connecting with IM’ers and making online friends has been important for me.
I enjoy my skype chats and calls, my webinars . I think it is important to develop relationships and provide service if you are to succeed online.

    Best wishes

    1. Hi Pete, thanks for visiting. I agree with you that it is important to maintain contact with people when you work online. It would be so easy to shut yourself away and not interact with others. I think the way we can connect via hangouts, skype etc is brilliant, and we can be all over the world and not notice!

      Enjoy the journey.

  7. Hi Mandy,

Thanks for sharing this post on the importance of Meet-ups and how Networking SuperStars has given you that opportunity.

With all the technological advancements in communication and all the enhancements with Google Hangouts, Skype, etc…it makes it so much easier to really build online relationships with people all over the Globe and network, mastermind, share ideas, support one another.

It is great to have online friends, but to really take your business and your personal relationships to the next level, live chats are awesome.

    To your success,

    1. Hi Marc, thanks for visiting. Yes, the chatting and video aspect of hangouts and skype is great. It beats just a telephone line, doesn’t it. The great part about hangouts is being able to get a few people together to have a conference chat.

      Enjoy the journey.

  8. Hi Mandy

I am in an MLM, and one of the things we mention is that it can be a solitary existence – basically with no one to talk to who understands what it is we do…..

So we promote meetings and training events to combat this……..

I was very lucky to find, or have been found for NetWorking SuperStars right at the time I considered, seriously, working on-line….

So i have not experienced the solitude of working away, at times with no-one watching and reading, with no-one who understands what am doing….. I do have people questioning why I am doing it – and the negativity you sometimes get when working away from the herd…

I would have expected people who themselves have gone through this when starting in an MLM company to understand when someone steps even further away, and does on-line marketing…..

So our weekly meeting are very good, you learn a lot, and the chance to just talk about your week, about any issues you have had, is very refreshing.

I am also very pleased to hear you will include this vital contact in your membership site.

As someone who has seen you join the NetWorking SuperStars – to spring boarding into a leadership level, and being one of the top leaders, running the best sessions, and someone who is becoming involved in “new leader training” I am sure hour membership site, with the hangouts will be hugely beneficial to all of it’s members – as long as they follow the system, and take to responsibility to work the system, a day attend hangouts!

    1. Hi Jon, thanks for visiting. I find a weekly meet also keeps me accountable, which is a great thing when you are working alone. If you don’t have that regular contact with anyone it is easy to fall into bad habits and it’s a slippery slope to inactivity. I do intend to run weekly hangouts as part of the membership but think they might be at random times rather than fixed, as they will be more about targeted meets for a specific topic, and I would like to offer the opportunity to everyone rather than just those who can make every week at the same time on the same day.

      Enjoy the journey.

  9. Hey Mandy, excellent write up about Networking Superstars! I truly feel we are making a DIFFERENCE in people’s lives!

You are doing an awesome job with leading one of our teams and now stepping up to train the trainer! which is even more powerful.

#SpeedNetworking is coming soon, and I cannot wait to see how it all pans out and brings us new people in to make a difference in their lives too!

Thank you for all you do!

    1. Hi Gavin, thanks for visiting. Don’t tell anyone, but I did get an A+ at degree level in ‘Training For Trainers’! I simply love training and it will be a big part of my membership site that is launching on March 1st. I love what you are doing with Networking Superstars and have felt privileged to be part of it. The hangouts are great for accountability! Looking forward to speed netwotking as I really enjoyed it when we ran a small one before Christmas.

      Enjoy the journey.

  10. Meetings can truly boast your inspiration levels in certain moments, I knew that from the times when I had problems with concentrating on writing . And furthermore, socialization can even help build up your self-trust.

    1. Hi Shaun, my friend STeve King and I have just started our membership site and one of the things we are doing in conjunction with this is running meetups/workshops around the UK for people who want to meet and share and learn in face to face. Both Steve and I have attended meet ups and know the value of these events.

      Enjoy the journey.

  11. I love the messages I read on this post, you give me such great ideas, and teaches me something different each time. I love it, keep it going, and thank you very much.

  12. Connecting with other bloggers and webmasters online is a great thing to do. But if you can do it in your own city it’s more beneficial, I believe. Nothing beats real personal contact, after all.

In just one or two meetings you can forge bonds that last ages. For example, I still maintain contact with an influential blogger I met in Sydney almost ten years ago. Even though I’m now in Perth and have been for a while, I still notify him of blog posts he might be interested in. And every now and then he links to one of them, sending me a torrent of hits as well as SEO benefits.

    1. Hi Matt, thanks for visiting. We are quite lucky in Britain because the country is small enough for us to usually be able to travel with some ease to a venue. A lot of meets are geld in London, obviously. Steve King and I started Marketing Miniclasses recently and are using the feedback we have had from new marketers about these big events, so we are offering small events, just up to 20 people, and focused on a workshop type setting where the attendees will learn something rather than just chatting and making connections, although that will be part of it too. We have already had lots of interest. Our events will be held in small venues in more remote areas of the country rather than making everyone travel to the cities.

Great to hear you made some good connections early on. It is a great way to forge those relationships.

      Enjoy the journey.

      1. Thanks Mandy. And all the best with those workshops you’re holding. Sounds like a great way to see some parts of Britain you wouldn’t normally go to.
