Passionate Focused Thinking

This post has been written for the Masterclass Blog Carnival.  The topic for May is ‘Passionate, Focussed Thinking’.  To read the other contributors’ posts in the Carnival please click this link to our advertising page at The John Thornhill Fan Club, Masterclass Blog Carnival.

When you first start to create blogs and products to sell from them, it is very easy to lose your focus in the blur of marketing emails and guru promises for easy money.  Almost every new Internet Marketer has fallen prey to the easy money promise, even me.

In a short time, most will learn that 6-figure incomes will NOT be made in 24 hours, or even in several months.  Another valuable lesson is to get off the roller coaster of empty promises and think for yourself.  Return to your passion and focus like a hungry shark.

Once you’ve started building your reputation as a legitimate blogger with a definite passion for a specific niche, you have taken your first step onto the Internet marketing freeway.  This is the perfect moment to sharpen your focus and move away from being considered a newcomer to a blogging marketer.

It is so easy to get distracted when you are trying to focus on building your business.  All that new information and strange processes will be distracting and at times you will believe that you will never be able to be successful as an online marketing blogger.  That thought can be changed with a swift return to focusing on your passion and nothing else.  Remember why you wanted to blog in the first place.

Build your business one step at a time, in your own way.  Your most powerful tool will be your calm, focused mind.  Refine your passionate, focused thinking, create the blog you want and have a great ride on your own roller coaster.

  1. Hi mandy, you’re absolutley right.

The saying Rome wasn’t built in a day is never more true than building an online business. We’ve both seen people start online and throw the towel in some months later and a lot of them stop because they’ve been buying one thing after another and they’ve not only spent all their money but they’ve lost heart as well.

It’s essential to work within our passions or stay passionate about our work and keep focused on why we started in the first place.

Keep your money in your pocket and your passion on your mind.

    Respect and Regards, barry

    1. I completely agree, Barry. The chances are if you try to write about something you have little interest in or knowledge about you are going to give up pretty soon into your journey. You spend an age and a fortune trying to learn it. Following your own passion is certainly less costly as you already have the knowledge.

      Enjoy the journey.

  2. Hi Mandy

    So True ….

I have to admit in the beginning I too fell for the hype of the so called Guru’s promising the earth, I won’t be the last I’m sad to say!

Having John Thornhill as a mentor has certainly helped me discover my passion and helped me focus on what I wanted to achieve.

I now wake up each morning excited about the day ahead, what I loved doing in my spare time I now do every day!

    1. Hi Ian, thanks for visiting. Very glad you have found you can pursue something you are passionate about every day. There’s not many who can say that, I am sure.

      Enjoy the journey.

  3. Wow I like you pic here even more. It is like meeting a real person. Love it.
    Good presentation.

When it comes to the topic of the post, it is of course a popular one. Passion rules our lives all the way.

    Make it great for yourself

    Fran A

    1. Hi Fran, thanks for visiting. And thanks for the kind words about the new graphics. I LOVE them! I am very passionate about them too!

      Enjoy the journey.

  4. Hi Mandy,

I love posts that tell it like it is! It separates the full of hype marketers from the honest ones.

This post is definitely worth reading because it gives you insight to do your business your way from within and not get lost in Information overload.

Great post, effective information overload killer.

    Terry Conti

    1. Hi Terry, thanks for visiting. Yes, I believe we must all work inthe way that suits us best and not try to follow someone else’s lead too closely.

      Enjoy the journey.

  5. Hi Mandy

How right you are about falling prey for all the promies of easy and fast money which keep hitting your email box regularly (I have been there). It takes courage to delete the links with all these golden promises but it must be done if you are to success online (I am working hard on that one).

This is why it is so important to choose the right niche, something you are passionate about and focus only on that subject. You don’t have to do it alone, to help you on your journey it is important to find the right course/mentor and then stop looking around and focus on developing your passion (I have done that by joining John’s Masterclass).

    So the future is bright.

    Best wishes.

    1. Hi Claude, thanks for visiting. It is very easy to be swayed by the hyped up promises that some marketers make.

I believe that sticking to your passion, or finding something you are passionate about, will help you greatly in your quest for success online.

      Enjoy the journey.

  6. Mandy,

You are right about the marketing emails and guru promises for easy money. I think they are one of the worst distractions for new internet marketers. With emails telling of new and better ways of making easy money arriving by the dozens every day it is really difficult to stay focused on what needs to be to really make money on the internet.

I have been tempted by to good to be true offers and am not trying to stay focused now on what I need to do and not the easy money offers.

Passionate, focused thinking is exactly where it is at.

    Dee Ann Rice

    1. Hi Dee Ann, thanks for visiting. I think the person who does not get caught out by those scmmy promises is a very lucky person! I have never spoken to anyone who has not fallen foul of them at some point.

      Enjoy the journey.

  7. Hi Mandy,

    I enjoyed reading your post.

    1. Hi Marcus, thanks for visiting. Thanks for the vote of confidence! I do believe that finding our passion is the driving force behind our success.

      Enjoy the journey.

      Enjoy the journey.

  9. Hi Mandy,
Very wise words. You are right -people need to realise that their internet success will not come overnight but takes time to grow and thrive. It is a journey and there are many side paths along the way that can be distractors. We can get distracted but it is how we react to these curved balls and can come out the other side stronger in our resolve. Many thanks for the post.

    1. Hi Janice, thanks for visiting. I agree that we have to take things as they come and deal with them. If we are following our passion that will be much easier to do.

      Enjoy the journey.

  10. Thought I’d drop by and check you out. Interesting topic and certainly a good read for anyone getting started out.

Whereas I probably did just about everything wrong and anybody on the outside looking in would say I’m doomed for failure, I’ve actually had some success.

When I started my blog I truly thought I could remain invisible, write some posts w/ no set schedule, have a few people comment and then figure out where I wanted to go with it. One thing I can do and did was be social and anyone who asks what my ‘secret sauce’ is, it’s that. I am no different in person than I am in the blogosphere; therefore, making friends at the rate I did, did not surprise me.

What has surprised me is the number of people who stop by my house. I don’t even think I have a blogging ‘voice’ yet.

If nothing else I think it gives me a good foundation so it will be interesting to see where it takes me. I’ve enjoyed the journey so far.

So good to see you and thanks again for stopping by my place.

    1. Hi Bill, thanks for visiting. I totally agree withyou, being sociable, helping out, offering a few words of encouragement somewhere, it all goes a long way and builds yourself a reputation that you could never buy any other way.

      Enjoy the journey.

  11. Hi Mandy,

I appreciate your clear words that building a serious business is not a get rich quick scheme and I so love that sentence of yours:”Return to your passion and focus like a hungry shark.” Wanting to make money can takes us off the goal of making money because we “forget” that have to pay a contribution to receive the money. So we have to follow our passion because we are then able to contribute with ease and not with struggle.

    Thanks for sharing your insights.

    Take care

    1. Hi Oliver, thanks for sharing. You are so right. We really do have to find the balance and make sure we have put enough in to get something out. And that is so much easier when you are talking about your passion rather than some topic you think will make money but you know nothing about. That shows through every time.

      Enjoy the journey.

  12. Boy do I ever know this to be true Mandy! That’s the journey I’ve been on these past five months and my blog proves that I’ve built up a pretty great following.

Although I never claim to be an expert, my readers continue to tell me that they are constantly learning from me and that I know so much more than others do. I even had one guy tell me that if I created a product of how you could get your blog under 150,000 Alexa ranking is five months he’d buy it! Mine is at 122,000! I sure must be doing something right! Oh, and I’m making money too. That’s the important part.

Decide what you want to do, plan a course of action and never waver from that. You will see results and sometimes it really doesn’t take that long!

Thanks for sharing Mandy and for the tip earlier today. I really appreciate that.

    1. Hi Adrienne, thanks for visiting. I think that following our passion is the only way forwads really. It’s pointless trying to make something up about a subject we know nothing about. I agree with your reader, I have managed to get a big leap in my Alexa ranking very quickly on every site I create through hard work, but I haven’t dropped under 200k on any yet. Must try harder!

      Enjoy the journey.

  13. Yes there will always be destruction whenever we try to reach a goal and its so easy to fall. But I have never believed in easy money offers especially with mlm. I know some have succeeded with it but I believe it is not for me. It is simply not my passion. But I do have a lot of Its good to be reminded from time to time to get back to what you’re doing and stay focused.

    1. Hi Ira, thanks for visiting. I believe that our passion is the only way to go really, it will mean we can be the best at what we do.

      Enjoy the journey.

  14. Hi Mandy

Love your new site, it looks great.

Passion is a great driver for anything you do in life….especially looking for success in any field.

Passion picks you up when the chips are down and there is nothing else…coupled with self belief, it can literally move mountains and achieve great things in any walk of life.

    All the best.

    1. Hi Zahid, thanks for visiting and thanks for the nice words. I love the graphics. I think they really stand out. And they have helped me in my passion, funny how some things can really increase your passion for what you do.

      Enjoy the journey.

      1. Hey Mandy

Just been on Randys Ramblings site and you are going to his meet.
I am going as well…will be great to meet you in person.

I have a great guest post on Pros and Cons of Social networks by my special guest Michele Welch of Newbizblogger..its a great read, worth checking out.

Look forward to seeing you there 🙂

        1. Hi Zahid, it will be good to meet up.

          Enjoy the journey.

  15. If I have not fall to sweet promises I would not having a blog now. You and me just learn from that mistake. I bought lots of ebooks that says you will earn big money. Yes its true that we can earn, but it takes time. Learning is gradual and applying what you learn take process. Just do it right and in the end you will really make money.

It is right to focused on what you are passionate about.

    1. Yes, and writing about our passion makes it much easier to be successful, don’t you think? Thanks for visiting.

      Enjoy the journey.

  16. Hi Mandy,

People today just want to start a business and get rich in a day or two. If I see all the top businessmen / entrepreneurs, it took them a long time of non-stopping hard work to get them to the point they are.

The key is to accept this reality and have a lot of patience.

    Thanks and regards,

    1. Hi Ashvini, thanks for visiting. I agree withyou, it takes a lot of patience and hard work. Rome was not built in a day, as they say.

      Enjoy the journey.

  17. Hey Mandy

Well thank god I am not a blogger then ha ha.

Alex used to always remind his students that we are Internet Marketers who blog, and there is a difference.

I am very passionate about Internet Marketing, I love marketing online, it has opened so many opportunities for me, not just monetary ones, I have met tons of lovely people too!

Blogging serves a purpose, it helps you spread your content and your story very easily and of course search engines love them, just so long as in the background you are working away on other “projects” too.

Great idea on the blog carnival, I am a big fan of them, certainly a super duper traffic source!

    Sally 🙂

    1. Hi Sally, thanks for visiting. I think that’s a great way for Alex to teach you all. We do have to be very clear about what we do so we can focus on what that is exactly.

      Enjoy the journey.

  18. Hi Mandy, passion and focus are critical for becoming a successful blogger. I run a focus site, and I know how we can get so distracted by all the things that happen on the Internet, especially with the abundance of marketers promising us easy money. Thanks for this straightforward post, and the reminder to keep us focused on what we want!

    1. Hi Hulbert, thanks for visiting. I also find all the free stuff pouring into my inbox every day very distracting. There seems to be no method to it, it’s just random stuff but it takes time to sort through it all.

      Enjoy the journey.

  19. We need to keep our focus and passion on everything that we do so that we can get quality results in the end. Thanks for reminding me of these factors. 🙂

    1. Thanks for visiting. I agree, our focus and our passion will reap rewards and quality results.

      Enjoy the journey.

  20. Hi Mandy,

My favorite part was of this post is:

“Your most powerful tool will be your calm, focused mind.”

You are right in that many times, we are running around with our heads cut off trying out everything under the sun. And that un-calm state most likely shows in our blogging.

Thanks for the reminder to “keep my cool” and blog at my own pace. 🙂

    1. Hi Marina, thanks for visiting. Yes, a cool head will help and we certainly can let our frazzled emotions show in our blogging.

      Enjoy the journey.
