Your blog posts look so much more visually appealing if the video you place within them is in the centre of the page.
An easy way to center your video is to click the video and then click the centre icon in the kitchen sink above your paragraph box. Sometimes this system doesn’t work though (heavens knows why!) and you view your post in the editor with a video in the centre, but when you publish it slides over to the left side.
To prevent this you can always add center tags in your html editor. Do this by clicking the tab next to ‘visual’, which says ‘html’, then insert <center> at the beginning of your image or video and </center> at the end of the image or video.
Watch the video below to see what I mean.

Hi Mandy,
Thanks for the tip. I agree that at times, the great system that WordPress is, it still has the odd funny moment!
I need to get into CSS a lot more, and remember some of the older HTML code too! Too many years away from writing pure code i am afraid!
Good to have a reminder!

Really good information for a beginner. I had to figure all that out myself with trial and error, and I bet 75% of bloggers had to as well! Videos like this are so very helpful, because a new blogger can just go to Google, type in “how to center my video” and Whalla as you say…there it is!! Thanks for the great info Mandy!

Hey Mandy,
I remember sometime last year a blogging friend shared some tags we needed to apply to make the videos centered since the regular ways didn’t work like you mentioned in the video. Once I published the post it reverted right back to left aligned.
But then the coding he shared didn’t work either and neither did the regular center HTML tags. That literally drove me nuts for months. I guess WordPress finally updated something and made these okay to use again since that’s how I have to center mine too.
For anyone not familiar with this, your video will be very helpful. Very clear and precise my friend, thank you.

I recently updated tot he latest version of WP and now my schedule doesn’t work so I can’t pre-book my posts for publication. My problem is I am not techie enough to look into it and find out what has happened. I am sure it must be the update as I haven’t added any plugins or changed anything else on my blog.

Don’t forget the little tip about typing a word in capitals to let you know where to place something in the html view. Read Dawn’s comment above as we’ve all made that mistake and spent ages looking for the right place to insert code!

Hey Mandy
Very good tip about writing a word in before you go looking for the place you want in html view.
The amount of times I searched through all the code before I learnt that (lol)
I really like your videos Mandy, very informative and straight to the point which suits me because I hate having to sit through videos that rabble on for ages to get to the nuggets.

Hi Mandy –
This is the first of your posts that I’ve had the pleasure of reading, but I’m sure I will be following you more often. Excellent piece of advice, and it actually reminded me to go back and center a video I just posted on a new blog post. Thanks! Actually i ended up enlarging the video to fill the entire width of the post, but that’s a different story, LOL!
An alternate code that I usually use, in case simple doesn’t work, is then at the end of the embed code.

And not only video makes our blog post attractive it also help us to reduce the bounce rate and increase the engagement level. Many people likes to learn their lesson visually more than reading text. So its important to stick videos with our post if possible. 🙂
