When did you last feel good?

Last week I got some new spectacles.  My first pair were bought in 1993 and each time the prescription has changed I have reused the existing frames.  I decided these frames were a little ‘old hat’ now and it was time to change them to a more modern look.

The ‘fitter’ was great.  She showed me the full range of frames, and she gave me lots of pairs to try on.  Nothing was too much trouble.  She spent the time needed for me to make the right decision.

Last week my newly purchased spectacles arrived.   As soon as I put them on I felt like a different person.  It reminded me of the day I collected my new car two years ago.  I had never bought a brand new car before and the same feelings were present on that day.  I felt, and still feel, good in so many different ways.  I feel more confident.  I have realised I am walking differently, more upright.  It’s an amazing feeling.

Last week I also joined my first ever giveaway.  I prepared a unique product for it (click on the banner alongside this post to go and see what is on offer).  Since the launch on Sunday I have had simply masses of downloads of my gift, and a host of sign ups to the list I created for it.  I am over the moon with the result and it has contributed greatly to me feeling good.

So when did you last feel good?  What happened to cause it and can you duplicate that?  Look for things in your life that help you to feel great about yourself.  You deserve them.

Enjoy the journey.

  1. Interesting post, Mandy, and very true. I’ve found that it is the smallest surprises or improvements that make the most positive impression on me. Slight touches when I’m having a bad day or a smile from a friend or passerby for no reason can make the difference in my attitude immediately.

I can appreciate how your new glasses reminded you of your new car. Not too long ago, I was stuck in traffic and starting to get testy. A hot sports car went past me and all of a sudden I was smiling at the memory of my sports car I owned when I was much younger. I used to put the top down and fly over the mountains with the radio blaring…Ah, youth!

Keep up the good work, Mandy. You are making a difference and I am enjoying taking the journey with you.

  2. Hi Mandy, great post giveaways are a great way of building a list, I havn’t done many recently but as soon as my current workload is done I will spend a full day on sign ups, you will find that as soon as you have done a few your product will have been seen lots of times so your sign up rate will drop. Time to use all that PLR stuff you have to create new products and to offer your subscribers as an ethical bribe to stay subscribed.

  3. Hey Mandy,

I had to laugh about the glasses. When I was home with my parents recently I took them over to pick up dad’s new glasses. Dad wanted mom to get new frames with her new lenses. So mom sat down and Scott (their eye guy) picked out a perfect frame for her. He only brought over one frame. She thought they would be “ok.” He had them ready for her in a couple days. She was excited about them. I told her they made her look like she was 70 years old (she is 89) and she hit my arm. Bottom line here is she felt great about her new frames whcih where her first in over 11 years (frames, not lenses). Just the simplest things in life.

I think we need to concentrate on the little things in life. East them up, enjoy them, relish in them.

  4. Hi Mandy,

Nice post. I like how much of a difference the “fitter” made for you…Taking the time, not rushing you, making sure you were completely satisfied. And based on your reaction when you got the glasses, you were!!! Thanks for the thoughts,

    Have a great day,

    Mike

  5. Hi Mandy .. glad you’re feeling a different person .. it’s the same with a new suit or new clothes – sometimes a wedding outfit .. and as you rightly say with a new car .. felt the same way.

Have a great week .. and enjoy the sun .. Hilary

  6. Thanks for visiting, Pat. Powerful memories can invoke very strong feelings in us. Glad yours was a good one!

    Enjoy the journey.

  7. Hi Rob, thanks for visiting. I had thought I would create a new product for each giveaway, only because I have been looking around at them and was disappointed to see so many of the same items entered in many giveaways. I’m sure it works or people wouldn’t do it, but not something I think I will do.

    Enjoy the journey.

  8. Hi Jay, thanks for visiting. Little things make so much difference sometimes, don’t they. Glad to hear your mum is happy with her new glasses too!

    Enjoy the journey.

  9. Hi Mike, thanks for visiting. Yes, the time taken over the choice of frames was important. There was no rush and she was very knowledgeable and shared the information she had about how people find the different style of frame. I chose large frames when I first had glasses because I didn’t like being able to see the edge of the frame in my eyeline. Now I have been wearing glasses for some years I chose much smaller frames, really quite slimline, and don’t mind being able to see the frame at all.

    Enjoy the journey.

  10. Hi HIlary, thanks for visiting. Yes, I agree that new clothes are another great feel good event. I hate housework but sometimes if I make a really big effort and blitz the place I feel fabulous afterwards, there are loads of them, aren’t there!

    Enjoy the journey.

  11. The last time I felt good was when I saw my savings growing and growing everytime. It makes me feel that I am really spending my money wisely :) That really makes me happy :)

  12. 17 years wait for a new pair of glasses Mandy, that’s good going. ;-)

I must admit I do the same as you; same frames new lenses. I have wore glasses, or contact lenses since I was a teenager, but I feel much happier and more comfortable having had Laser Eye Surgery – I’m writing this without glasses. :-)

I know what to do, anytime I want to feel good. I buy a second-hand paperback, or a cheap CD. That does it for me. :-)

  13. Nice one, John! Bless you, you lead a frugal life. Lovely.

    Enjoy the journey.

  14. Hello Mandy,
Enjoyed reading your post and glad you got fixed up well with new glasses. Since I started using reading glasses a few years ago I find I need to use them more and more and having comfortable glasses that you like is very important, but as someone else said, the fact it was a pleasant experience generally when you got the glasses is important too.
Glad to hear your first giveaway went well. They are a good way to build a list but Rob is right, after a while you will need another product to keep up the interest, but don’t worry it will take quite a few giveaways before the one you’re using starts to fade.
    Good luck

    Best Regards

    Dave

  15. Hi Dave, thanks for visiting. As I said earlier too I would rather have something different for each giveaway. I don’t like seeing the same old things doing the rounds constantly. And this giveaway is specifically for self help products so a meditation audio might not be appropriate for IM giveaways. Thansk for the advice, I appreciate it.

    Enjoy the journey.

  16. New glasses do make you feel all shiny and new. I bet your car is still new to you as well. My car is five years old and I still love it and got it new.

This may sound silly but I cooked chicken in a rice steamer tonight (I was a afraid to – I am a terrible cook). I had no idea how to do it and lost the manual on the cooker. I googled it and made a nice garlic chicken that came out really tasty. That made me proud and felt really good.

  17. Welcome, Angelia, well done for creating a new culinary delight! It certainly does make you feel good when you achieve something you might not feel so confident about. Thanks for visiting.

    Enjoy the journey.

  18. Thats a very sensible approach to giveaways Mandy, one of the reasons I drifted away from them was the same old items which meant less appeal for others visiting the giveaways. I intend to get back into them when I have some good original items to offer, and your approach of a new item every time will mean you will get a far better reputation and more interest as a result.
    Good luck.

    Best wishes

    Dave

  19. Hi Dave, thanks for visiting, and thanks for the kind comments. The nice part about IM is we can choose which direction we each want to go in, and I feel there are more people who are inclined to give better value now, which is good for all of us.

    Enjoy the journey.

  20. Hi Mandy, congratulations on the feel good factor and the best of luck with your free download and list building ventures.

    Regards, Barry

  21. Hi Barry, thanks for visiting. I can hardly believe it but I think I might have sussed the ‘uploading files’ thing!! Wow – now that made me feel REALLY good!

  22. Hi Mandy, feeling good is great. It’s that part of life that makes life worth living. I was felling bla so I decided to wash the car. It looked very dirty and ugly, it needed a good wash. After I washed it I took a good look at it. It gives me such a great feeling to see it clean. It looks like it’s new.
A clean car always runs better :) Terry Conti

  23. Hi Terry, great to see you here!! I can almost empathise with you on that one – except I get the car valets to do mine – and yes, it makes me feel really good, but not quite the sense of achievement you get from doing it yourself, I bet!

    Enjoy the journey.

    Mandy

  24. Hey Mandy, Nice story. Perhaps you can help me with my glasses problem. One of the lenses keeps falling out and landing in the strangest places. On the floor of the car whilst in motion, in my soup whilst eating, down my girlfriend’s cleav, er, well you get the picture.
I bought one of those small kits which contain a tiny screwdriver, a small magnifying glass and some replacement screws.
The problem is, if I don’t have my glasses on, I cannot see the screw in the joint to tighten it. Now what?

  25. New glasses needed, I think, Brian.

    Enjoy the journey.

  26. Hi Mandy,

It is sure nice to see that you are getting your acknowledgment for all the great things you have been doing for the last few years! I feel good when I see you are getting what you deserve!

For anyone that is not aware of this; Mandy is a Master at Blogging and she has learned this on her own. She joined John Thornhill’s MasterClass in 2009 and became one of the top stars (if not the top star)of the class. She is truly my top star of the class by her actions and results!

All the best to you Mandy!

  27. Mark, that’s so sweet, thank you!

  28. Hi Mandy,

I’ve had a few low points recently recently. I then think of those that have bigger problems than me, and then I stop feeling so sorry for myself.

This post certainly made me think. Thank’s.

    Ray.

  29. Hi Ray, sorry to hear you’ve been having a rough patch. You are right though, there are often others far worse off, and sometimes we do need to put things into perspective, but don’t belittle your difficulties. They are what they are to each of us, no more and no less.

    Enjoy the journey.

  30. Hi Mandy, I feel good every time I finish the things I’ve set out for the day, and I feel even better when I’m sportin’ some new specs. Congrats on being an event contributor! I really like the long banner to, it’s excellent. All The Best, Steve D.

  31. Hi Steve, thanks for visiting. It is the first banner I’ve included on the blog and I was very pelased with the look. Sometimes I find them a bit overbearing, particularly when people have quite a few, or ones that flash! Not my thing. I thought this was in keeping with the sedateness of the blog though! Glad you like it. There’s some great stuff available in the giveaway.

    Enjoy the journey.

  32. Mandy,

The last time I felt good was when I took a bath and fell asleep on the couch after finish watching some of my favorite shows. It was truly a nice relaxation after such a long week of work. I also feel good when I wake up in the morning knowing that I’m still learning and growing each day!

  33. Hi Justin, thanks for visiting. Yes, learning is so important, we are learning every day.

    Enjoy the journey.

  36. Hi Mandy,

I last felt good yesterday because I had my best affiliate commission day everrrrrr.

Money is not the be all and end all, but it gave me a little hope that all I am doing online will one day be worth it.

    Hope your well, Sally :)
