The Wood Between The Worlds

Of course anyone who has read The Chronicles of Narnia will know what this place is.  When moving from one world to another Digory Kirke and Polly Plummer find themselves first of all in The Wood Between The Worlds, a peaceful, restful place where they can relax and just be.

I always think of this time between Christmas and New Year as ‘The Wood Between The Worlds’.  The Christmas festivities are over and we are waiting for New Year to arrive.  It’s a time to relax after the bustle of Christmas preparations and the big day itself, and the frivolity that comes with New Year celebrations.

You may think to yourselves, what has this got to do with blogging?  Well, there always seems to me to be a place ‘between’ in blogging.  There is a space between having a thought for a blog post and actually producing the post and publishing it.  There is a space between the activity of creating something and the excited business of launching it.  I call this ‘The Wood Between The Worlds’ and am often found in this place relaxing between one task and another, awaiting the hustle and bustle of the next piece of work that has to be done.

You should always take time to relax in ‘The Wood Between The Worlds’.  Don’t just pass through without noticing, make time to rest in that peaceful place.

    Hey Mandy

Never heard a blog post been described as that before (ha ha)

Hope you had a good christmas with your family and have a fab 2013. Will have to meet up somewhere and have a catch up because it’s been ages since we’ve had a good chat.

    Take care

Hi Dawn, yes, we must meet up. I am out and about a bit more this year so it would be good to take a drive up your way and meet for lunch. Hey, we can be ladies who lunch!

      Enjoy the journey.

    Hi Mandy…
That is kind of a cool conceptual analogy that you shared. I never thought of it in that light. It is important to take down time no matter whether it is in between projects or might it be in the middle of a project.

Hi Martin, thanks for visiting. You are right, we are too often drawn into the next task without a break between.

      Enjoy the journey.

    Hey Mandy,

Well I was a bit lost in the beginning but only because I’m not familiar with The Chronicles Of Narnia but after your explanation I know exactly what you mean.

I didn’t use to rest any day when I was getting started with this crazy world of Internet Marketing but now I understand that we need to let go from time to time to do things better and also avoid burnouts.

Really great advice, I hope you’re ready to rock since it’s January already lol all the best! 😉

Hi Sergio, I’m glad you take some time out for yourself. It is essential when you work for yourself, it’s too easy to pack everything you can into your day and get to the end having had no rest at all.

      Enjoy the journey.

What are you trying to do Mandy, get me to thinking?

That is an interesting analogy, I agree. Huh, I don’t give myself enough down time but I hope to implement more of that into this year. Oh who am I kidding… I have such a long list of things I want to accomplish this year that I’ll probably continue going at the same pace I have been.

Cool though and I do hope you had a wonderful holiday season. Now it’s time to rock the new year.

    Make it a great one.

Another person who wants to include more rest time in her life this year! Good for you, Adrienne. Sometimes the first step is recognising you need it. Some don’t really see that.

      Enjoy the journey.

    Hi Mandy

As writing is a secondary things, done in snatched minutes of time between other things I do not really get a chance to enjoy that moment, between finishing and publishing…..

So a post doesn’t get launched, really, it sort of dribbles out….. Need to work on that this year!
