The weakness in me

Yes, I know this is a song title by Joan Armatrading, but I’m not going to write about the song or Joan Armatrading as it happens!  John McNally would probably be very pleased if I did, given his great appreciation of music.

I am, not for the first time, going to talk about my own weakness.  When I was thinking about this it just happened to come out in the form of the song title.

I am a risk taker in life.  I find I am constantly faced with opportunities and I relish them.  Most of the time I go right ahead and have a go at whatever comes my way.  Of course sometimes I don’t for practical reasons; like the time I was offered an antiques business 90 miles from home.  Completely impractical – I seriously considered it though!  I came up with a hundred and one ways I could make it work.  But it wasn’t practical, I knew that deep down.

But my weakness is not so much taking every opportunity no matter what it is; my weakness is that if I find I cannot jump over a hurdle, I just don’t!  I feel so weak for not challenging myself enough.  I feel weak for the feeble attempts I give to some things that I believe I cannot do.  There is a better part of me that believes I can do anything and everything; but the reality is that actually I can’t.

I have found that with some of the technical side of the Internet.  I believe I can’t do it, so I stop trying.

Good job I can outsource!

Enjoy the journey.

  1. Thanks for the mention Mandy, and yes it would have been great for you to write about Joan Armatrading.:-)
I’m not sure if you’re serious about this ‘weakness’ post? Nobody can do everything, so outsourcing is great. I have learn’t a lot about the technical side of blogging, but I still have someone come and help me sort out problems, every fortnight.
I think Clint Eastwood said you’ve got to “know your limitations”. It’s simply an effective use of time to concentrate on what you’re good at…..And you are good at a lot of things.:-)

Thanks, John. I knew you’d appreciate the musical link! I am talking about really simple stuff though. Just can’t get my head round it so outsourcing is the only option, I feel. I know JT said we should try to do everything ourselves to save money at this stage but … anyway, I’d far rather be writing than tech – ing! (And it is a brilliant song! Now you’ve given me the subject for a subsequent post too!)

    Enjoy the journey.

  2. Hi Mandy,

Iknow what you`re saying but i think you will find that that is you`re protective instinct not letting you jump over a hurdle that might damage you, it seems to me you have good perception!

    TTFN….Ed.

Ooh, thanks, Ed, I’ll remember that one next time I feel feeble for not attempting something!

    Enjoy the journey.

  4. Hi Mandy,
Funny I bumped into this today. I was tending to my mini series earlier and that’s exactly what I was writing about out-sourcing!
It’s a tool I am going to learn to use very efficiently.
    Thanks for the reminder!
    Kathy

Excellent idea, Kathy! I’m with you on that one. I’ve just joined Warrior forum and it’s amazing what people can do for you.

    Enjoy the journey.

  5. Hi Mandy
Maybe you are not meant to overcome every obstacle, maybe learning to accept things and learn that life is not perfect is part of the journey.
    Best wishes
    Ann

    Good point, Ann, good point.

    Enjoy the journey.

  6. Mandy

    Another great post.

We all have our weaknesses but it’s how we deal with them. Sometimes just getting away on your own helps or sharing with others.

    Just remember you’re never on you;re own…

    Alex

Hi Alex, thanks for visiting. And thanks for the encouragement.

    Enjoy the journey.

  7. Hi Mandy
I know exactly what you mean about the techie stuff. I spent a bit of time on an outsourcing site today, it’s quite cheap when you shop around but who knows what the quality will be like.
    Always enjoying your journey
    cheers
    Steve

Hi Steve, I joined Warrior Forum this weekend and the resources on there are amazing. The great part about it is everyone feeds back on the forum about the service they get so you have an idea on what quality of service is being offered.

    Enjoy the journey.

  8. Outsource! What’s that, Mandy? Don’t look to me for that.
That’s where one of my weaknesses lays… being overly stubborn
with techy things, and refusing to be beaten by inanimate objects.

Still, good post, and it’s supportive to others when we don’t mind
sticking our head over the parapet and declaring that we are,
    after all, only human.

Must agree with the earlier part of your post though, as it’s one
of my weaknesses also. The other being, and I’m compelled to admit,
that I’m overly romantic in my ideas. Lethal combination that.

Now where did I leave that source code?

    KenW

    Hi Ken,

I totally agree about being non techie! I am going to outsource as soon as I find someone… (applications to my email, please!)

    Enjoy the journey.

  9. Hi Mandy, Reading about you admitting to a weakness, was odd. I didn’t think you had any!
    Hope you are keeping well.

    Ray.

    Hi Ray,

That’s really interesting. We all have weaknesses, I guess I just like to concentrate on strengths.

    Enjoy the journey.
