The importance of people
I have been working on building an Internet Marketing business for some time now. I started by buying various ‘make money’ products and training courses, never really getting far due to my lack of understanding at the time. Many of these products start too far down the line for those of us who are starting from scratch.
One thing I have come to understand more recently in this business is the absolute importance of making friends online. It is essential to build relationships with other online marketers. These people will be very important in several areas of your business. They may be people who you can build working partnerships with, either in a jv (promoting products) or partnering on creating a product or site, or they may be people who will offer you invaluable support, help, guidance, advice. There is a wealth of it out there, but not everyone is willing to share. The only way to find out who is interested in helping you to further your business is to talk to people and make friends.
So now I will tell you who some of my friends are. These are people I have built relationships with online and who have helped me to further my online career. If you look to the right of this post you will see a blog roll called ‘My Favorite Blogs’. All of the people on this list have helped me enormously in terms of personal support, advice and guidance in my Internet business. Please take time to visit their blogs.
In particular I would like to mention specifically: Steve King, first and foremost as he is my business partner. Together we started The John Thornhill Fan Club and are currently working on another site with a group of fellow marketers. I would also like to mention Keith Alston. Keith has helped me no end with technical issues. He has a wealth of knowledge and I feel privileged to know him. On a personal level I have had enormous support from Svenja Sattler, Kathy Dobson, Susan Owen-Thursfield, and Jay and Lynne Mueller, who have all been so encouraging and kept in touch for many months now by email.
I feel privileged to know all of you and thank you for everything you give so freely.
Make friends, it will reap rewards for your future, and your Internet friends will support you in every area of your life. I found that out recently when I became involved voluntarily in a charitable enterprise, WOW! World of Whispers, and I was astounded at the generosity of my Internet friends.
Enjoy the journey.
Hi Mandy great post and wise words, it is important not to underestimate the importance of friends in any business, we cannot all be one man bands. I have had enormous help from other students when I have needed it, this help was given freely and in quantity. I think one thing is too often over looked in this day and age that’s the importance of giving and being of service without the prospect of instant reward. If we all give the rewards we will reap will be a result of the service we have given.
Great stuff
Rob
Hi Rob, thanks for visiting. I totally agree with you about giving, and have found the friends I have made on here give freely and willingly. It’s a wonderful feeling to receive so much from so many.
Enjoy the journey.
Mandy
Hi Mandy,
Like I’ve said before, if we all help each other where we can, we will all be successful in life. Life does not need to be a competition, just role with it.
Jay
Hi Jay, I totally agree with you, but isn’t it great that we have all found each other and get on so well!
Enjoy the journey.

Mandy,
This post is just the most recent of your wise outlooks on life and business. I had just finished recommending your blog to my niece in Seattle when I happened to “check it out”. Thanks for sharing your wisdom. Ray

You have no shortage of friends Mandy. You’re a classic case of what you give out, you get back. Keep up the good work.

Mandy
Hi Mandy, great post and so very true. I have found a few new friends through the course, and include you in that list.
Thanks for the support that you’ve given me during my recovery period. I now have to go back into hospital in the new year to have my op’ site worked on: The saying better luck next time springs to mind.
My mum is also on the mend but i feel it’ll be a long stay in hospital for her. I’m still there daily but as she’s now local i have a couple of hours a day to catch up on my work load.
Thanks again Mandy, Take care, Barry
Hi Barry, nice to see you! Wondered if you were okay. I hope things improve after your next op, and good news about your mum too. I certainly found a great bunch of friends ere, and am glad you count me as one of yours.
Enjoy the journey.
Mandy
Hi Mandy,
I could not agree with you more on the importance of people and the relation to our successes in life not just on a business level but also on a personal one.
No one gets successful on their own! Even people like Bill Gates has been helped with teams of people around him.
I think what occurs is we slowly attract like minded people and when we are on a positive and giving path they are the people we meet.
I think all of us at JT’s have become a mastermind group and we will all encourage and support each other in our travels in this internet world and all help each other succeed.
Hope all is going well, see you back here soon!
Jacinta
Thanks, Jacinta, I agree, like attracts like.
Enjoy the journey.
Mandy
We are a MasterMind group Jacinta! I like that! I would feel totally empty inside without all the friends I have gained throughout this year online. They truly are my network and I cherish everyone of them. It always seems that when I need to hear that encouraging word one of these valuable people just seem to show upon my blog.
What a beautiful tribute to those that have joined in your journey online, Mandy…I am honored to have been mentioned.
You certainly deserve all the success that comes your way. Your support and loyalty have been a rock for most of us.
Kathy
Hi Kathy, thanks so much for visiting. I have certainly benefited greatly from knowing you.

Mandy
Hi Mandy,
I agree entirely and I think many people don’t realize the importance of making friends while starting their online businesses. Every successful person online has friends that helped them along the way and I see you have no shortage in that area. I’m glad to have made so many friends with my fellow students.
I appreciate you stopping by my blog and sorry I didn’t get here sooner. You’re an asset to the Masterclass and definitely a positive voice in the forums. Take care and talk again soon. Thanks for your support. Patrick
Hi Patrick, sorry for the lateness in replying – I’ve been on holiday! Really nice to see you here and thanks for the kind comments.
Enjoy the journey.
Mandy
Hi Mandy,
Thank you for dropping by my blog !
At the beginning i really had the fear of writing on blog but
after reading THE Go_GIVER.I realise.. i really got to give more
Value to others rather than earning Money which is more Meaningful to me !
Through this Masterclass learning journey i’m glad that i got to know nice people like you !
Cheers !
Hi Emily, thanks for the nice comments! It is so importnat not to focus on the cash – you will get easily distracted by the next great offer if you do that! Remember, this is a marathon, not a sprint!
Enjoy the journey.
Mandy
