The Horse Whisperer

Actually I am not talking about the book, or the film come to that, but a real life horse whisperer, living and working in Wales, UK.

A few years ago my partner went on a course in Wales, ‘Healer, Communicator, Horse Whisperer’.  The course was an experience never to be forgotten, and local horses have benefitted from the great learning that took place throughout the 9 month course.

Now the herd are struggling.  We have just been advised that they are in need of funding, and the owner of the herd, who is also the course leader, would like to register the project as a charity.  This would enable her to tap into a vast amount of funding that is only available to charitable trusts.  In order to register for charitable status the sum of £7,000 must be raised, and fairly quickly, to enable the project to apply for grants to ensure the future of the project.

This week my partner and I will travel to Wales to help the project move to a new home.  In the meantime we hope to raise some funding via our email requests and a display encouraging donations that we have put into our art gallery.

The project has a great website and have asked for people to donate the sum of £10, making them a ‘friend’ of the herd.  In return everyone who joins as a friend will get an invitation to meet the herd at an open day to be held in Wales next year.  I can’t wait for the open day, as I know the project will get the money they need.  There are so many people who love animals enough to give this very small sum of money.

You can visit the project website at World Of Whispers and see for yourself what wonderful work they do.  You might even be tempted to donate that £10!  Donations can also be made via paypal to helen@helenwingstedt.com.  Do something amazing today – save a herd of horses.

Enjoy the journey.

  1. Hi Mandy,

It certainly seems to be worthy cause. Animals always need taking care of and it is up to people to do just that. I take a bunch of money continually to make things happen for them.

Pass on to Helen that she is just a fantastic person to take care of this herd. Lynne and I have been involved up to our eyeballs taking care of pets with the local humane society. We have also written for grants to accomplish specific things like spay/neuter. So our hearts are with her.

We can’t make a donation at this time, but will before the end of the year. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Hi Jay and Lynne, I know personally what wonderful people you are and how much you do for animals. It is so kind of you to consider yet another project to assist, and I will certainly tell Helen to pop over here and check out your kind comments. If you joined as friends we might see each other at the open day!! Now, don’t discount that thought just yet… everything is possible.

    Enjoy the journey.

  2. Hi Mandy,

Sounds like a very worthwhile cause, and if i have got to know you as well as i think i have the matter is a done deal!

its posts like these i love to read above all, thanks Mandy.

    TTFN….Ed.

Hi Ed, thank you for your faith! We are so looking forward to seeing the horses again this week and simply cannot bear the thought of them having to be split up or, worse still, this very worthwhile project coming to an end.

    Enjoy the journey.

  3. Hello Mandy,

it’s a very worthwhile cause and I left a donation. My only problem is with the government idiots that means it costs £7000 to become a charitable cause. I’m afraid I’m an old cynic and I know that the reason is the ‘jobs for the boys’ that the government creates.
Anyway thats how it is, and I hope the project works in spite of that.
    Good luck

    Best Regards

    Dave

Hi Dave, that is so lovely of you. I do hope to meet you on the open day next year! In fact the reason the project needs £7,000 for charitable status is because the project must have a bank balance of £5,000, and the other £2,000 is fees and costs, but I do agree with what you are saying.

    Enjoy the journey.

  4. Hi Mandy, what an excellent cause, I agree with Dave that it is a disgrace that you need £5000 in the bank and it cost £2000 just to gain charitable status, I remember doing this over 20 years ago and the costs were just a few pounds. so one donation on its way.

    Take care.

Robert, you are a star. The extra £2,000 is for solicitors fees to reduce the time it takes to be approved. I look forward to meeting you on the open day!

    Enjoy the journey.

We will be there from Wednesday to Saturday and hope to move the herd in that time too! Thick gloves and wellies required and there’s a caravan available for anyone who wants to stop over.

  8. The Whispering World – Helen Wingstedt

An enormous thank you to you Mandy and to every one of you who’ve taken the time to read Mandy’s inspriing feature and responded to my Equine SOS – Save the Herd at World of Whispers. August 2009 has easily been one of the most stressful months of my life on the one hand and one of the most encouraging on the other. To have so many people come forward to enthusiastically support the horses, the Project and me for the work we’ve done and want to do has been an incredibly moving and humbling experience which will be remembered and repaid in any way we are able.

I look forward to breaking good news with you all, as it happens, in the months ahead and thank everyone who by donating, will have made success from distress for animals and people possible.

    Very best wishes

    Best wishes
    Ann

Hi Ann, thanks for visiting. The last few days have been an absolute joy. Watch out for my next post as I will be writing all about it. I have also offered the herd owner the opportunity to write a post from time to time as so many people here have been so supportive of the project and even made donations, which is excellent. Big news coming soon, watch this space!

    Enjoy the journey.
