God they take some walking misses so that’ll keep you fit. If I’m down your way anytime I’ll have to take that trekking walk because Emily and James would love that.

  2. How apt that you are first to comment, Dawn! Glad you enjoyed the video, and I would be pleased to take you on a trek if you come to Norfolk for a break – you know you are always welcome to use the cottage anytime you want a free holiday, it’s a pretty little place to stay for a break, ask Hilary! Oh, and my favourite? It’s a bit like having children – no favourites allowed!

    Enjoy the journey.

  3. Hi Mandy,

Nervous of crossing the border we tend to stay in Suffolk and visit The Oasis Camel Centre (www.oasiscamelcentre.co.uk) to meet our Alpaca friends but what a marvelous job you have! Alpacas are certainly great characters.

    Thanks for sharing this video.

  5. Hi Mandy

I started watching this video about 5 hours ago and then life got in the way! I’ve just managed to finish it.

I really enjoyed seeing your little fellas – I know that you having been spreading your infectious enthusiasm for them.

What a shame you only started walking them just as we finished our break at your cottage otherwise we could have come out with you.

What a great break we had at your cottage – you were so generous in letting us use it. It is in a beautiful spot and we thoroughly enjoyed our few days there. We had both a relaxing and energetic time walking (sans alpacas) & running as well as drinking wine and going to visit NT properties (& drinking tea).

Best of all it gave us the chance to unwind and come up with our new online business idea that we are busy beavering away on – to be launched in the not too distant future after some testing.

As for the little ones – I’m sure they all have their own personalities, so as in real life one could look good, but could be different in real life. However I loved watching this video. Thanks for the show. Do you carry on with them throughout the year?

Ian, staying in Suffolk is mainly a good idea, living in the county ourselves, but there’s always room for a little bit of Norfolk, especially with these fellas.

I’m off to Berkshire tomorrow with my 2 sisters to celebrate my mum’s 80th birthday, so looking forward to a couple of days away (no alpacas though!).

  6. Hi Hilary, thanks for visiting. So glad you enjoyed your break, I love living here.

I am rather enthusiastic about the boys, as with all things nature. I am willing and able to continue throughout the year but sadly my boss says not many people book treks during the winter months.

Great to hear about your new online venture – do tell when it’s ready!

Do enjoy the birthday celebrations with your family, I always love famiily events with my own family. Such a milestone is a great opportunity for a get together.

I’m booked to go to Northallerton October 1st, in case you are interested!

    Enjoy the journey.

  7. Well I’ll be an Alpacas’ Uncle!!
Walking with an animal would never have occurred to me Pat!!
Mind you, I do like them, who wouldn’t?
However, the previous owners of our current house ran a business called Natural Yarns and they certainly had some Alpaca involvement – the cleaning up of which said traces took me a few months, with fibres of all kinds appearing out of every crevice and carpet!!
Keep it up, it looks a good way to relax down there in Norfolk.
    All the best

  8. How very cute – I liked when the white one decided he was going to lay down !

Do these guys get along with other types of animals?

  9. Hi John, thanks for visiting. Who’s Pat?

    Enjoy the journey.

    Mandy

  10. Hi Mary, thanks for visiting. That’s their spot for a dust bath! They lay down then roll on their backs, but sometimes they just use it as an opportunity for a rest! They do get on with other animals, but you need to socialise them from a young age. These guys are not good with dogs because they’ve had some bad experiences with owners not keeping their dogs under control.

    Enjoy the journey.

  11. Awwww they are lovely Mandy!

    They are big though yes?

I remember Jade and I went to a local park where they have them and you can feed them, I was terrified they would bite me ha ha ha.

Really sweet video, put a smile on my face right in time for the weekend and the music makes me wanna go on holiday ha ha.

You’re very lucky to work with such cool animals.

Catch ya later, Sally :) x

  12. Hey Sally, thanks for visiting. Yes, they are really lovely. They’re not so big, about 3ft high to the shoulder so their head is on a level with younger children really. And they don’t bite, they only have bottom teeth anyway, just gums at the top. Excellent music, I thought! I know I am very lucky, really very lucky, it’s a great fact about my life.

    Enjoy the journey.

  14. Hi Randy, thanks for visiting. Actually the smell is not overpowering, as some animals can be. They don’t smell too much but their pen does a bit. They are gorgeous, I’ve had a great time. Got a trek this Saturday, first one for over a week. See you next Saturday at the Northallerton Meet Up.

    Enjoy the journey.

  15. Those guys are so cute. One of my daughter’s favorite animals. Showed her the video and she couldn’t stop giggling.

  19. Hi Mandy
Just to say how much we enjoyed walking with the boys on Friday ~ the children have talked of little else since we got back to North Yorkshire. I took loads of pictures of our trek ~ all blue skies and sunshine, and wondered if you would like me to send some your way?
    Best wishes

  20. So pleased you had a good time, the boys are splendid, aren’t they. I would love to see the pics, thank you. I don’t use pictures on the video with children in them as I have a feeling I there has to be special permission but if you would like me to use any of your own pictures in the video please let me know as it will be redone over the winter for loading onto the alpacatrekking.co.uk site for next season. Any pictures can be sent to admin @ mandyallen.com.

    Enjoy the journey.
