O Is For Opportunity

I love opportunities.  I grab them with both hands most of the time.  I never regret letting go of the ones I don’t take up.

Some of it comes from being a risk taker, I love life and am happy to explore it fully, but I don’t feel I am in any way cavalier in my attitudes towards it.  I just love new experiences and I love adventures!

Taking lots of small opportunities is often better than waiting for that great big one to come along, because it may not!  And the small one may directly lead to something much bigger, but if you don’t take the first one the second may never come along.

There’s a great saying by Harry Truman that I love:

‘A pessimist is one who makes difficulties of his opportunities and an optimist is one who makes opportunities of his difficulties’.

Sometimes it is easy to spend so much time looking at the closed doors around you that you cannot see the one that has opened in front of you.

Enjoy the journey!

“Taking lots of small opportunities is often better than waiting for that great big one to come along” – What more is there to say Mandy? Spot on!
There is more to be said for taking opportunity when it comes along. Wait for the “Biggy” and ignore the small ones and you will achieve nothing!

    Hi Mandy,

Every day some kind of opportunity comes our way. What we do with it is
the thing. It might be something small or it may lead to something wonderful.

I loved the quote by Harry Truman:
‘A pessimist is one who makes difficulties of his opportunities and an optimist is one who makes opportunities of his difficulties”

Opportunities are everywhere. Have a good day!

Hi Kathryn, thanks for visiting. I love that quote too. I have always been able to see the other side of the situation, which is a gift, I know.

    Hi Mandy

Very much agree with lots of little opportunities and Kathryn’s comment about opportunities every day. It’s all a matter of the perspective you take. Even from one moment to the next; a deep breath and a quiet mind for a few seconds raises your vibration and you perceive your reality and its vast opportunities in a whole new light.

Hi Matt, thanks for visiting. Of course their are opportunities every day, and many of them just float right by us and we don’t even notice them. I am always astounded when I look back and think ‘oh yes, I missed that one’!

      Enjoy the journey!

    Hi Mandy,

I tend to be an optimist. I am often willing to struggle through something that many others I know would have just given up on, but the reward later on is that I have learned something new and in the future that same difficulty becomes easy.

    Warmly,

    Dr. Erica

Hi Erica, thanks for visiting. Learning new things is always positive, isn’t it. Even when they come from things that we may perceive as having ‘gone wrong’. I always value learning.

      Enjoy the journey!

    Hi Mandy,

I couldn’t agree more with you! Life is too short. You have got to make the best of every single day. Everyday is an opportunity beaming at us. It is up to us to make the best of it.

Bringing a smile on someone’s face is an opportunity, a random act of kindness is an opportunity, and the list goes on.

If we help others, our day will be brighter, we will stay positive and our eyes will be open to the open door in front of us.

Hi Michael, thanks for visiting. Yes, we must always have our eyes open for those doors, sadly some people walk around with their eyes closed!

    Hey Mandy,

I too believe in – take what it gives philosophy. We may not evaluate an opportunity in the first place itself, but how we take that forward makes it small or big. Thanks for sharing. Take care.

Hi Manidipa, thanks for visiting. Exactly right, we might not recognise the potential at the beginning but if we do not take the opportunity the potential will never be realised.

    Hi Mandy

Yo are so right. Opportunities always come to those that are prepared. There are opportunities. I do like this quote that an optimist makes use of an opportunity. Thank you for sharing

    Hi Mandy,
Opportunity is everywhere and letting it go is not a good thing for me. I have done too much of that in the past and won’t do it again.
