Don’t Worry, Be Happy!

At times we all fall short of what we might expect of ourselves.  Sometimes things get difficult and we can’t meet all our goals or keep up with all our plans meaning what we expected does not happen.  It can be very easy to give yourself a hard time when this happens.  You can chastise yourself for not coming ‘up to scratch’.  But don’t!  It really is just life and those things happen from time to time.  Recognise how much you do achieve rather than how much you don’t.

If you feel these shortfalls happen more often than you would like look at how you structure tasks and make your plans.  If you are setting unachievable goals you are going to fall short so stop doing that to yourself.  Make your goals and plans easy to accomplish and then start to stretch yourself a little further each time.  You will fall into a pattern of achieving instead of not achieving.

And above all, don’t worry, be happy!

Enjoy the journey!

I can so relate to this, Mandy.

Last year, actually just about a year ago, I had a lot of personal things going on. I made the difficult decision to stop blogging for a few months while I worked on my challenges.

It was absolutely necessary and I don’t regret it. Yes, my traffic all but vanished but I survived! Now, I’m in a much better place with a more solid foundation upon which to build. Yes, it was disappointing to have to walk away for a bit, but life moves on.

We each have unexpected things come up and have to keep our priorities straight. I can be hard on myself so now I am mindful of that tendency and don’t let it settle into my mind. I reject it and instead, I’m kind to myself.

Respect should extend to ourselves as well as others.

Hi Deborah, thanks for visiting. Well done for recognising how you can treat yourself badly sometimes. Not everyone gets to that point and so they continue with the cycle of beating themselves up when really what is needed is some time to take solace and treat yourself kindly. I too took time off from blogging and initially gave myself a hard time about it, but I came to the point where I realised it was essential to do this and now when I have to have a break I enjoy the down time and come back refreshed.

    Excellent thoughts, here.

It’s really important to set achievable goals, as you’ve pointed out.

Yes, it’s great to “shoot for the stars” with your big, bold goals, but you MUST break them down into bitesize, achievable steps along the way. That gets you in the “habit” of succeeding instead of always falling short and getting in the habit of failing.

It is so important to realize that what happens does not have to “affect” us negatively. We have the power to reframe it to see it in another way and to be happy, if that is what we choose.

Since we have free choice why not use it.

Well. Sometime, life is confused so we don’t know what we do and why we’re doing that. I felt shock and down as I couldn’t achieve anything in life.

I sat alone and thought about the beginning of my life journey. it’s stupid, right?

I’m being 31 years old, but still a jobless.

I start blogging because I own a dream, however, I can’t achieve even half of the dream.

What I learned during this few years is life is to enjoy the day. Enjoy little things so life will much better.

I sometime smiled with empty pocket. LOL

Tim Ferriss (4 Hr Work Week) has an interesting approach to goal setting. He intentionally sets small easily achievable goals so that he has a better chance of racking up a bunch of wins and that is good for his ego and motivation. Not my cup of tea, but it obviously work for him and I think that’s far more important than which system we use. Thanks for the inspiration!

Ofcourse, we have to make ourselves happy whatever be the situation we are facing. We don’t gain anything extra if we worry too much about the negative things in life.

One night we just read this damn amazing article on how Steve Jobs or Bill Gates got success and the next day, all we want is that major big step to accomplish whatever we want to. I guess the bigger picture is not wrong. Our method is wrong. We should take small, easy and friendly steps towards the destination. It really isn’t important to leap a hundred miles in one go. You just need to set short term goals to go ahead till the long term ones and you can definietly achieve anything!
