Does sex equal more hits?
Most of my regular readers know that I have recently spent a lot of time and energy supporting a brilliant Project for horses and people, WOW! World of Whispers. This is a Project that works hard to bring people and horses together to encourage a healing environment for both. This encourages amazing transformations in the people who come to the Project to benefit from the experiences.
About 3 weeks ago a film producer visited the Project to create a video that will be used to promote the Project both through the WOW! website and through dvd’s and YouTube. It has been a very interesting experience being involved in creating this short film. As well as being the second camera person during filming, I spent some time this week in the editing suite with the film producer and the WOW! Project owner, Helen Wingstedt.
One of the people who had visited the Project, and had an amazing experience, was a newspaper columnist and BBC presenter. He was there on filming day to talk about his amazing experience. Off camera we all talked about life in general and he told us he had recently put a post on his personal wesbsite called ‘Sex, Drugs and Oil’. He said his site had more hits on that post than at any other time in its history! His theory was that if you include the word ’sex’ in the title it encourages a plethora of hits – I just thought I would test it out!

YES the word sex will definately attract more hits ,because its a massive massive market and with this keyword loaded to the front of any title will attract lots of traffic to the site, BUT money will only be made if there is anything related to sex for sale as this is what the searcher is looking for!

I have been scoping out our future digs in Harrison, Arkansas. One of my new friends is Sue Jones who paints as well as take wild life photography. I will be building her a sales website in exchange for her teaching me photography. She has a photography studio in her house and her husband has a recording studio in the house (not much living space). Her husband is Mark Jones, son of country star Grandpa Jones (died a few years back). You can check Grandpa out on you tube.
In any case, after I get the site built for her, was wondering if you could help me promote it. Don’t know when I’ll have it done, but probably within a year or so.
By the way, SEX always draws the attention of Americans…. It think it is the puritan influence from way back.

You made me laugh!!! “Sex” is the most searched word on the internet next to “Secrets” The other top words are “make money” and “success”. I learnt that at the last seminar I went to. Sex is the number word!!!!! so no wonder on the hits. Maybe we should do a post on “Sex and Internet Marketing” neither 2 mix so to speak except for word choice!

I think that is a definite yes! For many different reasons – lots of people like to talk about it and know about it and think they might be missing out on what someone has got to say about it, so they will always check it out! Good call by the reporter.

Good title Mandy, Sex has to be the most interesting word in the English language.
Sex definitely sells, but there is an enormous amount of competition for this search word. You might get more hits, but the surfers will only tarry for a split second. As soon as they see that the blog isn’t sex related, they will move on to another site that is.
I might pinch your idea though! I’m now thinking about a music post entitled “Sex, Drugs and Rock and Roll”.

Hi Mandy, very cool idea and I bet you get a spike in your visitor logs. When I used the word shemail in the title of one of my posts I had a spike of over 20 new visitors but alas, totally untargeted, so they bounced right off my site when they saw that my post was nothing to do with shemails at all. LOL

Excellent experiment Mandy. Sex DOES sell and this is a great example of that in action. I wasn’t even going to check this out but I was intrigued with the title.
