How much difference will your life make?

Easter is a time of new beginnings. I like to think of it as a time to let go of what has gone before and start with a fresh, spring like approach.

I run a local spiritualist group and we start our new season at Easter. We shut for the winter months, mainly because the hall we hire is so cold in the winter! Easter always seems like a good time to start the new season, the weather has usually brightened up a bit and the hall is significantly warmer. There’s nothing worse than not feeling like you can get up and walk out of somewhere and you are cold!

I remember long hours in cold churches as a child, not really understanding what was being said or why I was there. When I was older I joined the choir and then I had a purpose, but I still didn’t understand the long sermons that were always full of quotes from the bible that didn’t seem to mean anything significant.

Now the church has a different approach. They try to relate their bible quotations to something we recognise in our lives today. There is often humour injected into the sermons and it helps us to realise how related these experiences are to our everyday lives.

I have been so amazed at the amount of positive feedback I have had from a previous post ‘Is anybody out there?’ that I have purchased the domain name Is Anybody Out There?. The whole subject of spiritualism, spirituality, mediumship and ghostly happenings seems to have awakened an interest in some readers, while with others it has given them the opportunity to talk about their personal experiences. I have now created a site that you can post to. I would love it if you found on there the answers you are looking for through someone else’s experiences. We are all here to help each other.

If you have a personal experience you would like to share with the other readers please use the site to record it. There is also a category for groups to post their details. When there are a number on the site I will organise them into areas so if you want to look up a local group or spiritualist church you will hopefully find a selection of opportunities not too far from home.

There is another page where mediums can post their details. Again I will organise these into areas when there are a few and hopefully some of you may have experience of the mediums listed and will be able to leave feedback for others to share.

I hope you find the site useful and can find time to leave your own posts for others’ enjoyment.

Another thing I do in my spare time is I run the local Spiritualists Group. Most people do not realise that Spiritualism is on the Governments list of recognised religions. We don’t play with ouija boards or hold seances in dark rooms, although there are groups who do those things too. We are a church group who meet regularly, we pray, we sing hymns, we have a reading and an address, all very much the same as any other church you may walk into. We have a crucifx on our altar, we have flowers and candles, we believe in God and Jesus. So what is different about our religion? Well, we also believe that there are greater forces working for our good, that once we leave our bodies here on earth we ascend to a higher plain and that we who are still here are able to communicate with the people who have passed on before us. During our meetings we always have a spiritualist medium in attendance who is able to pass on messages to those present. Sometimes these messages are from people who are known to the receiver, sometimes not, but the messages are always relevant and are uncannily accurate. Even non believers who come to ‘test’ the mediums ability are left astounded by the knowledge the medium has of their personal circumstances. They go away with a completely different attitude to us and what we do. Of course there are charlatans out there, people who are good at picking up on a persons mood or body language and through a series of clever questions can pretend to be getting very clear messages. If you go to a spiritualist church or meeting you will be able to judge for yourself how authentic the mediums are, but please don’t judge before you’ve been and had a look. You may not want to go, and that is fine, but we should never make a judgement about something we have not tried as our views are based on prejudice and bias, not personal experience, and that is very unfair.
